Stein am Rhein is a small town located at the western end of Lake Constance, where the Rhine begins its course again, near the border with Germany, between the cities of Constance and Schaffhausen (Schaffhausen). The historic center of Stein am Rhein is excellently preserved, completely pedestrianized and full of beautiful half-timbered houses and frescoed buildings, which make it a jewel of medieval architecture. The Stein am Rhein Christmas Market is the busiest event in the town during the Christmas period.
STEIN AM RHEIN CHRISTMAS
Christmas of Stein am Rhein (Märlistadt Stein am Rhein). The village, which is richly decorated and illuminated during Advent, is transformed into a land of stories and fairy tales. The event is in fact called Märlistadt (the city of tales), there are shop windows showing depictions of the stories of the fairy tale chosen as the annual theme, a medieval Christmas market (which takes place only on certain dates), a large Christmas, and many other activities for adults and children related to fairy tales. All in the evocative atmosphere of this charming medieval village in Switzerland.
