Soest Christmas Market

City of medieval origin located east of Dortmund, it was founded in the 9th century, and in the following centuries it became one of the most important in the region, it also became part of the Hanseatic League, but starting from the 15th century, it underwent a slow but constant decline . Today Soest has a characteristic historical center formed by a multitude of palaces and churches built in the typical green sandstone and old wooden houses, which overlook the typical medieval streets, the oldest and most important building in the city is the Cathedral of San Patroclo (St.-Patrokli-Dom), built in the Romanesque style in the 10th century. Another interesting building is the beautiful Wiesenkirche, a 14th century Gothic church with beautiful mosaic windows. The Soest Christmas market which has been held since 1841 has become very popular and is one of the most important events that the city of Soest hosts annually.
