Sankt Pölten is the largest city in Lower Austria, it is located along the valley of the river Traisen, a tributary of the Danube, about 60 km west of Vienna.
Founded by the Romans with the name of Aelium Cetium, and was one of the most important cities in the province of Noricum. In the Middle Ages a monastery was founded there and then it developed as a market place.
The most important building of St. Pölten is its baroque cathedral, built in the eighteenth century, the town hall (Rathaus) is also interesting, formed by a set of styles ranging from Gothic to Renaissance to Baroque.

1) Sankt Pölten Christmas Market (St. Pöltner Christkindlmarkt).
