Rostock Christmas Market

The important Hanseatic port city of Rostock located on the Baltic Sea hosts in its historic center, full of Gothic-style buildings, a beautiful Christmas Market which takes place in the Neuer Markt square and in the streets leading to the port. The city is also decorated with Christmas festoons and many very tall Christmas trees.

ROSTOCK CHRISTMAS MARKET

1) Rostock Christmas Market (Rostocker Weihnachtsmarkt). It is one of the largest markets in northern Germany, the center of the market is the New Market Square (Neuer Markt) full of stalls displaying the typical objects of Christmas. During the opening week, at 2.00 pm on the first Saturday, the market presents the arrival of Santa Claus, who arrives from the sea on board a ship.

2) Historic Rostock Christmas Market (An der Hege). This market takes place in front of the town hall (Rathaus) and has two ancient city gates as its entrances, there are local handicraft objects and stations where ancient crafts such as the blacksmith, the potter, the carpenter, the painter, etc. are presented.
