Important city in the Czech Republic located about 90 km southwest of Prague, along the road to Nuremberg. Home to the famous Pilsner beer, Plzen is the capital of West Bohemia and the country’s fourth largest city by population. The center of the city is the Republic Square (náměstí Republiky), overlooked by the Gothic church of San Bartolomeo (Katedrála svatého Bartoloměje), and the wonderful Renaissance town hall (radnice).
The city also has a large synagogue and some interesting museums, including one dedicated to beer. For the advent period, the city of Plzen called Pilsen in German is all decorated with festoons and Christmas lights, the most important event of this period is undoubtedly the Plzen Christmas market, which due to the city’s German past which was majority ethnic German until the 19th century.

1) Plzen Christmas Market (Vánoční trhy Plzeň). The Plzen Christmas market usually takes place in the Republic Square (náměstí Republiky), the large rectangular square in the center of the city, here you will find the classic wooden houses with local handicraft products and where you can enjoy hot chocolate , mulled wine and cinnamon. In the square, during Advent, performances of traditional Czech songs will take place. To complement the Christmas market, a demonstration of folk crafts and traditions is also organised, which is very popular with both children and adults.
