Mannheim, after Stuttgart, is the second largest city in Baden-Württemberg, home to a famous university. The city is located in a flat area at the confluence of the Rhine and the Neckar. A small village until the beginning of the 17th century, Mannheim began to develop after the construction of the Friedrichsburg fortress (1606). In the 18th century it became the capital of the Palatinate, enriching itself with numerous noble palaces including the Mannheimer Schloss and valuable Baroque churches. The Mannheim Christmas Market is one of the largest Christmas markets in Germany.

1) Christmas Market (Weihnachtsmarkt Mannheim). The Mannheim Christmas market is usually set in an atmospheric Art Deco (Jugendstil) setting. Generally there are over 200 stalls in this large market that takes place near the Water Tower (Wasserturm), here you will find art and handicraft objects from all over the world, you will find a wide selection of nativity scenes, candles and Christmas decorations , handicrafts, pottery and leather goods, jewellery, woolen hats and sweaters. There are also many proposals for the palate with local and international specialties. For the little ones stuffed animals, wooden toys, a nice children’s carousel and a little train. For adults a large Ferris wheel.
