Lindau Christmas Market

Lindau, is the only country of a certain importance belonging to Bavaria, which overlooks Lake Constance, the historic center is located on an island connected to the mainland by an isthmus on which a road runs. The town originated in the Middle Ages and developed thanks to its favorable position on the lake and along the commercial route between Italy and Nuremberg. In the 13th century it became a free imperial city.

Lindau has a beautiful medieval old town with several fine buildings such as the beautifully decorated 15th century Old Town Hall (Altes Rathaus), some interesting churches (Peterskirche, Münster Unserer Lieben Frau, Barfüßerkirche, Evangelische Kirche St. Stephan) an atmospheric entrance to the port and the remains of the medieval fortifications.
