Christmas markets of the Canton of Obwalden

The canton of Obwalden is a small canton in central Switzerland with a mountainous territory, the canton consists of two parts of separate territory. The canton contains numerous lakes – to the north is Lake Lucerne, in the center is Lake Sarnen (Sarnersee), to the south Lake Lungern (Lungernsee). The canton contains the geographic center of Switzerland. Obwalden is a German-speaking canton.

Sachseln Christmas market

Christmas market (Weihnachtsmarkt in Sachseln) in the town square. The Christmas market that occupies  the pedestrian area of Sachseln will enchant you with its festively decorated stalls, the scent of mulled wine, chestnuts and candles. The gastronomic variety of food stands invites you to linger and eat the gastronomic specialties on offer.

Sarnen Christmas Market

Christmas market (Weihnachtsmarkt Sarnen) with 150 stands in the historic centre. Every Wednesday before the first Advent the traditional Christmas market takes place in Sarnen in the town center. The Sarner Christmas market is especially known for its handicraft offering.
