With the start of the Christmas season, Berlin is full of Christmas markets (Berliner Weihnachtsmärkte), with more than 60 markets, the city offers everything for Christmas shopping. In addition to complete the Berlin Christmas there are numerous organized events, concerts, cultural events, lights and Christmas trees, the winter landscape of Potsdamer Platz, carriage rides through the streets of the city festively decorated as well as thematic restaurants and nightlife. Here are some of the most beautiful and important Berlin Christmas markets.

Christmas markets of the district of Spandau:

Christmas market in Spandau (Spandauer Weihnachtsmarkt in der Altstadt). This market is the largest Christmas market in Berlin, it takes place against the backdrop of the old town of Spandau (Altstadt Spandau), on the western outskirts of Berlin, where more than 250 wooden chalets – which become more than 400 on weekends – waiting for visitors with their products. You usually will find a beautiful nativity scene with live animals in Reformationsplatz, concerts and other events, do not miss a visit to the Gardens of Christmas of St. Nikolai (Weihnachtsgarten St. Nikolai) and to the historical market of arts and crafts in Reformationsplatz, here every Wednesday takes place also a medieval procession.

Christmas markets of the district of Mitte:

Christmas Market in Gendarmenmarkt (Weihnachtsmarkt am Gendarmenmarkt). Traditional Christmas market, one of the most beautiful of Berlin, with handcrafted Christmas items (sculptures in wood and stone) and culinary delights created by top international chefs. The market is animated by jugglers, acrobats and fire-eaters, there are also performances of gospel choirs and jazz.

Christmas market at Alexanderplatz (Weihnachtsmarkt auf dem Alexanderplatz). Big Christmas market in Ost Berlin, with numerous wooden chalets between Alexanderstraße and Alexanderplatz.

District: Mitte.

Environmental Christmas Market  (Weihnachts- und Umweltmarkt am Sophienstrasse). Set in Sophienstrasse, this market is dedicated to environmentally friendly products and environmental protection organizations. In this market you will find ecological Santa Claus, dressed in green.

District: Mitte.

Christmas market in front of the Red Town Hall of Berlin (Weihnachtsmarkt “Berliner Weihnachtszeit” am Roten Rathaus). Set against the backdrop of the old Berlin, this market has also a large skating rink, street artists as puppeteers and storytellers, Santa’s sleigh, a Ferris wheel, pony rides, petting zoo, children’s carousel with historic wooden horses, and, of course, a variety of eating venues.

District: Mitte.

The world winter at Potsdamer Platz (Weihnachtsmarkt am Potsdamer Platz). Christmas market along the Alte Potsdamer Straße with gift items and delicacies of Berlin food. Activities lovers will find an ice-skating rink and a toboggan 12 meters high and 70 meters long.

Christmas markets of the district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf:

Christmas market of Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche (Weihnachtsmarkt an der Gedächtniskirche). Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. It is one of the most popular markets in Berlin, with over 170 stalls and a beautiful Christmas tree lit placed in front of the church.

District: Charlottenburg.

Christmas market of Charlottenburg Palace (Weihnachtsmarkt Schloss Charlottenburg). This market which forms the backdrop to the baroque palace of Charlottenburg offers over 250 stalls with arts and crafts, culinary delights and classical music for young and old. There is also the possibility of making special Christmas visits inside the beautiful illuminated palace.

District: Charlottenburg.

Christmas markets of the district of Pankow:

Christmas market of Saint Lucia (Lucia Weihnachtsmarkt in der Kulturbrauerei). This market, dedicated to Saint Lucia and Scandinavian Christmas, is held in the cultural center of Kulturbrauerei, housed in the former Schultheiss brewery.

District: Pankow.
