Berchtesgaden Christmas Market

Berchtesgaden  is a beautiful German town in Bavaria, located on the border with Austria, just 20 km from the city of Salzburg. Berchtesgaden is located in the Bavarian Alps in the middle of an idyllic alpine landscape, dominated by the Watzmann mountain (2,713 meters), one of the highest peaks in Germany, and a short distance from the Königssee lake. The town, which is located at an altitude of 570 meters, is a renowned summer and winter holiday resort. The Berchtesgaden Christmas Market takes place every year during the Advent period – the four weeks before Christmas – in the central square of the castle.

Berchtesgaden Christmas Market (Berchtesgadener Advent). During the period before Christmas, the town of Berchtesgaden welcomes visitors with lights and festively decorated trees, music and Christmas carols. In the castle square (Berchtesgaden Schloss) the classic Christmas or Advent market (Berchtesgadener Advent) is held with stalls dedicated to crafts and Bavarian gastronomy.
